Microsoft has included an OpenSSH client with Windows 10 since the Fall Creators Release (1709). This client has been installed by default since the April 2018 Update (1803). The biggest benefit for the average user is that they can now use a supported OpenSSH client, without downloading and installing any other software.
Azure Automation State Configuration (previously Azure Automation DSC), is a service provided by Azure that allows you to write, manage and compile PowerShell Desired State Configuration (DSC) configurations and assign these configurations to target virtual machines (or any server or workstation to be honest). On its own, State Configuration provides some basic configuration examples, but its true power comes form the ability for you to define your own configurations.
The Posh-SYSLOG PowerShell module continues to surprise me. I originally developed the module in early 2012, making it available on GitHub in 2013. Since then I've continued to maintain the module, even though I don’t directly use the module.
I'm happy to announce that Planet PowerShell is now enforcing HTTPS for all aggregated sites. I gave some extra time for authors to make the change. In the end only 3 authors opted out of moving to HTTPS, so I'm happy with the result.
Previously I announced that Planet PowerShell will be enforcing HTTPS for all aggregated sites from August 1st (2018-08-01). That date is now a little over 4 weeks away.
Planet PowerShell has grown over the last 18 months since its launch. The community has grown to over 60 talented individuals, with great content posted every day. During this time, I've been very cautious of making many significant changes, but this is about to change.
GitHub recently announced new features and support for multiple issue templates. Before, GitHub supported a single template, by supporting multiple types of issues, we can gather the right information from the beginning.
